The beans are dark green and make a great addition to any plate in summer. The directions below are for direct sowing, but this Dwarf bean will also do well in a pot, or a container.

How To Grow Dwarf French Bean Compass From Seed:Ā French Bean Compass can be started indoors from April, or sown direct from May onwards. To start indoors, use seedling modules or small pots, and sow 2 seeds in each cell/pot. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot.

Transplant out to the garden when frost risk has passed, giving each plant 30cm of space. Alternatively, sow directly outside in May when the risk of frost has passed. Sow 2 seeds every 30cm, and thin to leave the strongest when the seedlings establish.

Compass will grow to roughly 40-60cm in height, and it produces a big crop of fine beans. Regular picking keeps it producing more beans. It may require a little staking if it becomes top heavy.
